Harlekin is knit flat back and forth using intarsia. Intarsia is a way to knit bigger sections in a contrasting colour in a single colour background. This is what creates the Harlekin blanket. Finished with a simple crochet border.

You only knit with one colour at a time. At the colour changes, the colours are twisted around each other to avoid gaps in the finished work. Every colour uses 1 skein in the appropriate colour. The colour changes are executed by placing the colour you come from above the new colour – this is done on both the right side (RS) and the wrong side (WS) of the work.

TIP! Rather than using the full skein for all 9 colours, you can wind small balls of approximately 7 g.
By knitting intarsia you avoid the long floats on the wrong side that you would get by knitting the same motif in stranded knitting.

The blanket is knitted in ØKOLOGISK HVERDAGSULD.
